I am so glad you could join us here at Romance Junkies. To start, will you please tell us a little bit about your current projects?
I have a new book out, I’m excited to say. INTO THE WHIRLWIND is the second book in my BOSS Inc. trilogy. It’s Megan O’Brien and Dirk Reynolds’s story. When Meg’s three-year-old son is kidnapped, the former lingerie model goes to the only man she trusts, private investigator, Dirk Reynolds, the man who was once her bodyguard and still owns her heart. Desperate for Dirk’s help, Meg is willing to risk everything to save little Charlie. After that, INTO THE FIRESTORM, Luke Brodie’s story will be out–so lots going on for me.

When was the moment that you knew you had to be a writer?
My husband started writing first. For me the moment came while I was helping him edit his first novel. I realized I loved the work and thought maybe I could try writing a book of my own and so I did. From then on I was hooked.

Who gave you the one piece of writing advice that sticks with you to this day?
Oddly enough it was a quote I read by Calvin Coolidge. “Nothing takes the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.“ Not giving up, I learned, is the key to success.

Describe the “perfect” hero. What about the “perfect” hero for you?
My heroes are smart, brave, loyal, and tough. They believe in defending their women at any cost. They are, of course, handsome and rugged. I would consider any one of the men I’ve written to be the perfect hero for me.

What are some of your favorite pastimes? Do you have any hobbies or collections?
Writing is both my job and my hobby. It’s my passion, so it pretty much takes up all my time. I also love to travel. Over the years, I’ve been to lots of exciting places, often work related, which makes it even more fun. Living in Montana, I love to take road trips that get me out in the gorgeous countryside. The more a writer experiences, the more fodder for the work. I love gourmet food and expensive hotels, a good reason to keep working!

What has been your biggest adventure to date?
Wow, tough question… becoming an author for sure. Aside from that, moving from California to Montana. The place is as wild and wooly as people think it is. It’s been a fabulous adventure living here.

If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose, and why?
I love Paris. It’s simply the most romantic city in the world. For a romance writer what better spot could there be?

When it comes to food, are you the adventurous type who will try anything once, or do you prefer to stick to tried and true foods and recipes?
I’ll try most anything once. That excludes eating bugs and some totally bizarre portions of certain animals. When I travel, I pretty much eat what the locals eat. I’m not crazy about organs, stuff like that. But I’m fairly open minded.

What is the one modern convenience that you cannot do without?
A toilet, I guess. Household appliances I could mostly live without if I had to.

What is your idea of the ideal romantic evening?
French champagne then a limousine ride to a fabulous black tie ball or a romantic restaurant. Spending the night in an opulent suite at a five star hotel and having delicious sex with your lover.

What project are you working on next?
I just started a trilogy set in Texas. Multi-millionaire Lincoln Cain is the hero. I’m very excited to be writing the story.

Any place we can find you in person or on the net this month or next?
I’ll be in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the Western Writers of America conference. June 22-26. My hubby is a western writer so I get to tag along. In July I’ll be at Thrillerfest in New York the 5th through the 10th and RWA National in San Diego the 13th through the 17th. I love to say hello to readers.

Thanks so much for blogging with us, Kat!
