My E-Book Reader and Me

I got a Sony E-Book Reader a little over a year ago. I did some research before I decided on the Sony. I love my Sony reader. It has saved me a lot of money on ink. I used to print out my e-books to read. Anyway I walk with my reader on the train when I go to my day job. Before no one paid me any mind when I pulled it out. But lately more and more people seem to know what the e-book reader is. I’ve gotten questions and had very interesting discussions on what the reader can do and what types there are.

It is fun letting people know about it and my opinions on the other types of readers. I do make sure they know I have only used the Sony so my opinions on others is limited. Usually the first question I get is how many books I can hold on it. When I tell them they look shocked then intrigued. That is one of the things that drew me in. The amount of books I can have on the reader and not have to worry about breaking my shoulder. Imagine carrying around 100 paperback books. Oy.

It is very awesome when I get questions about my reader. The awareness of e-books and readers are growing and it is great. So as I ride my train to work and anyone asks me about my e-book reader I tell them about it and all the books out there to read. I take my reader when I travel and it saves me having to worry about the price of overweight of packing paper books into my bag. Now don’t get me wrong I still love the feel of paper books in my hands (that gives me an idea for a future blog. LOL). I still buy lots of books in paperback. Mostly from series I have started and mainstream published books. I use my reader for mainly books from various e-pubs I frequent.

I’ve also noticed more and more people using readers on the train and when I travel. I’ve even compared my reader to others types. On the train once I exchanged my reader with someone who had a Kindle. We checked each others readers out and then others noticed and asked about them. It turned out to be a very informative and fun conversation.

I would love to have an e-book reader. I truly believe in this green world that we live in this would be the way to go. Well perhaps someday I will have one but for now my library is such that I better read the books I have

Hi, I bought a Sony ebook reader and I love it so much. You can have lots of books and I no longer print mine either. Great thing to have.

I’ve tried several different ebook readers & they just didn’t do it for me so if I get an ebook I just read it on my laptop.

An e-reader is on my wish list. We do not have Kindle in Canada, but we do have the Sony e-reader. And I am sure there are many others. I don’t think I would ever give up reading print books, but it would be nice to carry this one along on trips and such. Takes up less room in a suitcase..

My 65th birthday present from one of my daughters was a Sony Ebook Reader 700 with all the bells and whistles and I’m in heaven. I wanted one cause I got tired of waiting for books to be printed. I would see so many stories that I wanted to read and really didn’t know how or if I wanted any of the stories to stay on my hard drive.

This one has a leather case with my initials in the back and I can read any kind of story I want and no one is the wiser looking at my ebook ;> D I can change the print size and have my own backlight, load pictures and music. You can’t ask for a better present unless it’s a Benz lol.

Got to have my books in print but now I also got to have my ebook reader also. Oh and I can charge it via computer or AC cord. Now that’s a winner. Mo

I purchased my ebook reader about 4 years ago. I have a eBookwise 1150. It has been a trooper and is far less expensive than most of them. I can carry about 400 books on a 128 mg card. That is fine with me. I don’t really need more. I can make notes, bookmark, all the stuff that others can do. Plus it will store several formats when they are tweaked with the free programs out there that will modify them so that they do work.

I still read paper and tend to buy about 10 books a month on paper. There is nothing better than feeling a new book, opening it ever so gently and getting obsorbed in the story. But it is also great to pull out the reader, no matter where I am, turn it on and enjoy a great story. It’s backlit so I can read at night or anywhere that light is limited.

I do believe ebook readers will be the future.

    Hi McKenna, great post :)!

I haven’t purchased an ebook reader yet. I have tons of ebooks though. I live in a small town that doesn’t have a bookstore near (even the nearest WalMart is over 30 min away), so I have tended to purchase ebooks more. I don’t have to wait for them to be shipped :). I read all mine on my laptop which works out okay since I work from my home office doing freelance web and graphic design work (the ebooks are great for a break in between tasks). However, I’d love to have an ereader so I can travel easily with some reads in my tbr list :).
