From New York to New Hampshire
My newly released contemporary romance novel is about an artist bored with city life and a Manhattan lawyer itching to escape his father’s control. They meet briefly, share a steamy kiss, then meet up again in a New Hampshire campground.
Creating the story was easy; I grew up in the shadow of New York City, and fell in love with the rural life of New England while attending art school. The mountains and waterfalls were lovely and romantic. Several visits, later in life, to campgrounds alongside New England rivers and lakes helped me visualize the settings found in With Every Kiss; an Opportunity Falls novel.
A recent trip from my current home in North Carolina took me through New Hampshire. I gazed at the mountains, rivers, wildlife, and autumn leaves that reminded me why I had written this book. Back on Long Island, we enjoyed a visit with family. A quick Wikipedia factoid – The city of Manhattan currently has a population of 1.6 million, whereas the entire state of New Hampshire has only 1.3 million. Talk about culture shock!
Heading back to the capital North Carolina, with only about 403,000 people, I find I miss both New Hampshire and Manhattan already. However, during the winter, I find I no longer miss shoveling snow!

He overhears a woman asking about campgrounds, and realizes she is the jogger. When he disappears minutes later, Abigail is left fuming. Meeting him again in a campground in New Hampshire is a coincidence…or is it?

Nancy Lee Badger grew up in Huntington, New York and has fond memories of growing up on Long Island. Her life changed when she attended college in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. After meeting her husband at Plymouth State, and raising two handsome sons, Nancy moved to North Carolina where she writes full-time. I just finished reading With Every Kiss and I loved this story. Mitch and Abigail’s intertwining lives made for a delightful tale. I, too, miss strolling the streets of New York City. However, the serenity of being able to look up and see all the stars in the sky without blazing lights of the city is an experience everyone should have.
