Our Review

HOT CHRISTMAS KISSES is the second book in the LOVE IN BOSTON series, and I look forward to reading more. Even though I didn’t read the first book, FRIENDSHIP ON FIRE, I didn’t feel lost and could piece some of the backstory together.

The prologue sets the stage of what is to come since Matt and DJ have a non-dating relationship and only get together a few times a year for hot and steamy sex. They sometimes text throughout the year but really don’t know much about each other’s personal lives or history. When Matt unexpectedly shows up in Boston,on her home turf since his job is overseas, DJ is not happy. She doesn’t want him to see her at home or at work. It’s also close to Christmas, and DJ is not a big fan of the holiday or any of the fanfare leading up to it. Matt has his work cut out for him with DJ.

The story flows nicely. DJ and Matt each have secrets. We see DJ’s insecurities since it’s hard for her to open up to others given her family history. Her mother is cold and calculating. Her friendship with the twins and their family is heartwarming…and surprising as she keeps secrets from them. Matt and DJ always seem to be taking one step forward and two or three back and aren’t always on the same page.

This is a true Christmas romance filled with holiday cheer and tradition. It’s a lovely story, and the epilogue adds a nice perk since it gives hints of what is to come.

Next up for me with Joss Wood will be THE RIVAL’S HEIR, which is the next book in the series. I look forward to reading more of her books.
