I'll Be Seeing U
by Dianne Castell

Something that's really near and dear to my heart is women and how far they've come.

My grandmother didn't have the right to vote. This has always astounded me. She was one of the smartest and brightest people I've ever known and she couldn't vote because women didn't have that right.

When I was in college women were either a teacher or nurse or a secretary. There were no women in the college of engineering and one in the entire business college. All doctors were men. If you weren't married by twenty-five there was something wrong with you. My daughters are in microbiology, computer arts, industrial design. They are not married and have terrific careers. Their relationships are not I must have a man to be happy but I am happy with this man.

Once when my girls were little I took them to see the Cincinnati Reds play baseball. We are so not a sports family. The players were warming up and my youngest-six at the time-wanted to know where the women were. Why weren't there any women playing baseball.

When I see how far women have come in their attitude and goals I feel terrific. For my daughters the sky is the limit!

Texas Bad Boys,
Coming September 2006

Silver Gulch Sheriff John Snow thinks women have their place-in his kitchen or his bed. He would certainly never go for some women's libber business woman like Lillie June. The men in town want him to close down her fancy new spa, and he's happy to oblige. But once he meets Lillie, soothing massages, personal pampering, and one-on-one body wraps don't seem like such a bad thing at all…

Summer. That gives me months of holiday.

Anything with sun and heat and flowers and lawnmowers blaring and burgers sizzling on the grill and the ice cream maker grinding against rock salt and the deer munching on my roses and the moles making Swiss chesse out of my back yard.

The reason I love summer is that I live in Cincinnati and from January to the end of March we have gray...I'm not talking a few clouds here, I'm talking the black hole of gray that sucks everything in and makes it gray too including your attitude.

Until you lived Cincinnati gray you can't imagine it. Give me summer!
