Emotions as distinguished from reason. So, passion is
not a logical, reasonable feeling. It's not something that can be created through
an analytical process of deduction. It's not something that can be rationally
explained.
And if it's not reasonable, then
it can't be controlled, designated, or manipulated.
As
I read through passion's definition in the dictionary, I'm surprised to find something
in the very last line. Under the synonym section it reads:
syn see in addition FEELING.
So passion also
means feeling. Well then, I need to look up the word feeling, of course.
Old
"Webby" defines it as follows:
FEELING-
a. an emotional state or reaction.
If passion
and feeling are synonymous, that would mean that passion is not only an emotion
and feeling, but also a reaction.
A reaction
hmmmm
like
that weak kneed feeling I get when I look at that special someone? You know what
I mean. That feeling that my legs are nothing more than wet noodles, my heart
speeds up, and I feel dizzy. That's not something a person consciously asks to
happen. It just does.
So, I think I figured
out the definition of passion. It's a natural reaction. It is a feeling between
two people. And it is emotion. We're not just talking about sex here, were talking
about so much more. Passion encompasses and transcends the physical. It adds a
dimension to a relationship that is undeniable and overwhelming.
I'm
so glad I get to write about such a wonderful emotion, feeling, and reaction.
