PASSION

What is passion?

I love to read about it. I love to write about it. I love the feel of it. But what is it, truly?

Webster's Dictionary defines it this way:

PASSION- (1): EMOTION (2) pl: the emotions as distinguished from reason.

Emotions as distinguished from reason. So, passion is not a logical, reasonable feeling. It's not something that can be created through an analytical process of deduction. It's not something that can be rationally explained.

And if it's not reasonable, then it can't be controlled, designated, or manipulated.

As I read through passion's definition in the dictionary, I'm surprised to find something in the very last line. Under the synonym section it reads:

syn see in addition FEELING.

So passion also means feeling. Well then, I need to look up the word feeling, of course.

Old "Webby" defines it as follows:

FEELING- a. an emotional state or reaction.

If passion and feeling are synonymous, that would mean that passion is not only an emotion and feeling, but also a reaction.

A reaction…hmmmm…like that weak kneed feeling I get when I look at that special someone? You know what I mean. That feeling that my legs are nothing more than wet noodles, my heart speeds up, and I feel dizzy. That's not something a person consciously asks to happen. It just does.

So, I think I figured out the definition of passion. It's a natural reaction. It is a feeling between two people. And it is emotion. We're not just talking about sex here, were talking about so much more. Passion encompasses and transcends the physical. It adds a dimension to a relationship that is undeniable and overwhelming.

I'm so glad I get to write about such a wonderful emotion, feeling, and reaction.

Q: Youre the mother of three, wife to one, and the keeper of many animals. How do you manage to find time to write, Eden? Do you make time every day when possible?

Eden: First off, let me say that my family comes first. I try to write when it doesn't interfere with being a mother and wife. That's my most important job at the moment. I write in the mornings, while my children are at school. If I can spend four hours a day writing, I'm lucky, and thankful. Part of my time is also spent on promotion, so I have to account for that in my daily routine. Of course my schedule rarely works out as planned, but I've learned to accept that, and get what I can out of each day.

My Favorite Season is

Fall

My favorite time of year, without a doubt, is the fall. There's just something about that time of year that promises fresh starts, new projects, and excitement. As I drop my children off on their first day of school, I feel their excitement about seeing old friends and making a fresh start. Okay, there is some reluctance to going back to school, but my kids are also more than ready to get back after summer break. Seeing all the children riding their bikes or walking to school, backpacks full of all the supplies they need to start the year, it brings back memories of all my first days.

The leaves change. The grass at the park by our house fades to brown. Autumn colors put a new perspective on everything. There's a smell in the air in the fall. A scent that promises such fun times as Halloween, and Thanksgiving, then after that the holidays, and New Year's Eve. So much to look forward to. So much potential.

I love the fall.
