Our Review
Julia Winston is the Haven Point librarian. She spent most of her life taking care of other people. Now at 32 years-of-age she has decided it is time to live a little. She makes a list of things she wants to do such as learn to ski, get a puppy, and kiss a man under the mistletoe.
Jamie Caine is a pilot for his family’s business, Caine Industries, and has rented a room in Julia’s big Victorian house while his condo is being worked on. Jamie has a reputation of being loose with the women so Julie is wary of him.
Julie notices two little boys coming to her library daily and spending a lot of time. She gets worried about them when they leave the library one night in a blizzard and alone. She talks them into letting her give them a ride home where she finds no heat or electricity and no adult. She finds out the boys’ mother left days earlier and never came back.
Julia contacts a friend in child services to check on the boys. Unable to find the mother, the boys will be placed in separate foster homes. Julia can’t see splitting them up, so she offers to take them in until after the holidays. Not knowing how to take care of little boys, Julia enlists the aid of her hunky renter.
This story is one of a young woman who spent her life taking care of her parents until they passed. Not knowing how to break out of her shell and find some fun, she leads a lonely life. Jamie and Julia find friendship and a way to help the two boys enjoy the holidays. There is some sadness, family heartache and learning to live for today, because you never know what tomorrow will bring. A lovely Christmas story for all to enjoy.
