Our Review

FOR HER HONOR is the final book in the GENTRYS OF PARADISE series, and I was drawn in from the first page to the last. I loved the layers to the characters and the story and how well developed they were. I have only read the novella which introduces us to the family, but there are enough details given that I didn’t feel lost. This historical romance is set in the late 1800’s in Virginia but also has scenes in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.

Emmaline is a strong-willed young woman with dreams who doesn’t have the normal desire to be a wife and mother. But that desire changes when she finds herself unmarried and pregnant. 

Adam has been forlorn since his fiancee died of a burst appendix, and he has a few other secrets about his lost love. Will he and Emmaline, neighbors and already in-laws (since his sister is married to her brother) be able to help each other at this difficult time? The importance of family ties and loyalty are strong in this story, especially between the main characters.

Emmaline and Adam don’t always see eye to eye, but Adam does his best to help her reach her dreams. FOR HER HONOR is an emotional read full of romance and a most satisfying love. There is nice closure, and the epilogue that takes place nineteen years later ties up the loose ends nicely. I hope that the next generation stories will be told since the parents’ names, along with the name of their offspring and year they were born, is listed at the end of the book. I love the cover!
