Our Review
STITCHES IN TIME by Suzanne Woods Fisher shows the reader a look at the daily life of an Amish community from an interesting point of view. The story revolves around two couples. Luke, a young man, is selected as a deacon of the faith. The selection process is quite revealing as to how the Amish live their faith. Luke is the most unlikely candidate, and when he is “chosen,” both he and his wife are quite surprised. Luke and his wife, Izzy, are quite an unlikely couple, but they are definitely in love. As Luke learns his responsibility as deacon, Izzy retreats to her knitting shop and her sheep. The reader definitely finds out a lot about sheep, and it’s very entertaining. The Amish community is approached to help in a time of need for a home for girls in the foster care system. This introduces the reader to Mollie, an Amish teacher who is willing to take two temporary foster girls, and Sam, an Amish horse trainer who likes Mollie but has problems expressing himself. There are trials and tribulations for both couples, and the story completes with a surprising ending. I really like this author she shows the reader so much about the faith based community and lifestyle.
