Our Review

AN AMISH FAMILY CHRISTMAS is the fourth book set in Charm, Ohio, which is about the Kinsinger siblings trying to find forgiveness in the midst of family tragedy.

Levi Kinsinger is the youngest sibling in his family and after his father dies in a fire, he has felt adrift. He left his home and moved to Florida for a time but has come back to Charm to try to reconnect with his siblings.

Julia Kemp is Levi’s neighbor on Jupiter Street, a group of ramshackle houses that need a lot of work. Julia is having trouble paying her bills but does what she can to keep her daughter, Penny, safe. Julia ran away from an abusive relationship and just wants to stay under the radar so she won’t be found.

Levi and Julia are both lonely and strike up a friendship. They both need help at times so they can use a friend. When their attraction grows, they try to ignore it. Julia being an unwed mother in the Amish faith is unthinkable. Pretending to be a widow in a new town is the only way Julia feels she can live free and alone.

Levi and Julia facing their pasts during the Christmas season together is the only way to find a healing and supportive love they both desire. Will Julia’s past prevent her happiness?

Shelley Shepard Gray is a new-to-me author and as I enjoy stories of the Amish life, I am glad to have found her great novel. This book is a perfect reminder about Christmas as a time for family and forgiveness, featuring a couple who need each other and the family they may become. This is the last book in this series and makes me want to read the first three.
