ALL THE COLORS OF NIGHT by Jayne Ann Krentz returns us to Fogg Lake, a town full of paranormal activity and quirky residents. This is a complete standalone paranormal romantic suspense while being the second in her Fogg Lake trilogy.

Psychic investigator North Chastain is looking for an artifact to help his father recover from a psychic coma. In the course of his investigation, he looks into Sierra Raines, who authenticates and transports paranormal artifacts. Sierra is doing her best to recover from a ruined reputation, and she’s intrigued by North and the odd sense she has that something is wrong with him.

In the course of their mystery, a conspiracy from the past involves members of a shadowy organization known as the Foundation–North’s employer–and the town where Sierra grew up, Fogg Lake.

The two work together to solve several interlocking mysteries, and in the process fall in love and in danger. The mystery in the story works very well and is both complex and involved. But the romance takes a major backseat. The chemistry between the leads is lacking, relegated to the end of the book and some thoughts the characters have for each other, in addition to working together, in the first three quarters of the book.

An enjoyable read and a clever mystery, ALL THE COLORS OF NIGHT will satisfy Jayne Ann Krentz fans and mystery lovers alike.
