Our Review
SWEETEST KISSES was often heartwarming and other times heartwrenching. Nicolette or Nic and Adam had immediate chemistry although Nic fought it every which way she could. She was only back home in Mission, Washington due to family obligations. She couldn’t wait to leave town once again and leave behind all the small minded people she had to deal with her whole life. While she’s a globetrotter, Adam never wants to leave Mission or the ranch family he lives and works with plus his own blood family lives and ranches there too. Watching them take one step forward and two or three steps back made my heart hurt.
Nic had to deal with so much pain while back in Mission. The way she’s treated by the mean girls as if they’re still in high school and not adults left me shaking my head more than once. Adam is always a rock by her side – wanting to share her pain, make her happy and feel good, and be the one that’s always there for her. He gets along well with her family – her aunt and her mom who is ill and she fits in with his friends except for the mean girls that get shoved aside, one by one. She comes from a family of bakers and the descriptions of the cakes had me drooling at times!
There are family and friends, caring, sharing, hopes and dreams, caretaking, baking, ranching, responsibilities, parties, lots of loving, tears, fear, anger, hatred, sorrow, sadness, happiness, laughter, love and dreams that come true. There are a few twists and turns to the story, many unexpected but just what was needed. Watching Nic come to terms with what her reality is and where she belongs was a testament not only to her strength but also Adam’s. He is always showing her what it is to be loved and cherished and unfortunately she has nothing to measure it against but Adam doesn’t let that stop him at all.
There is nice closure and a happily ever after in the offing and most of the loose ends tied up. The epilogue is the icing on the cake! This is the first book in THE MEN OF THE SPRAWLING A RANCH SERIES that I’ve read but I’ll be back for more since I have the first three books to read. There was enough background given that I didn’t feel lost throughout.
Alexander is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more of her cowboy romances. With Adam’s five brothers and those he lives with on the Sprawling A Ranch there are plenty more stories to tell!
