Our Review

A WARRINER TO RESCUE HER, book two in the WILD WARRINERS SERIES, is a nice continuation of the first book in the series, A WARRINER TO PROTECT HER. This is Jamie and Cassie’s story, and while there are sad undertones thanks to her dad who is a fire and brimstone type of reverend and who is the new vicar of the parish, it also has some playfulness along with lightness and cheer. Jamie is injured and ex-military and fought against Napoleon. He loves to paint, which constantly got him in trouble while growing up. His father called him a girl and did far worse to him too. Cassie weaves stories to remove herself from her day-to-day life with a father whose rules are always getting her into trouble. Are they a match made in heaven?

This is a historical romance set in England in the early 1800s. I enjoyed reuniting with Letty and Jack and also his two other brothers, Joe and Jacob. The book is filled with family drama and romance. The story flows nicely, and the characters have a depth to them even if I couldn’t stomach Reverend Reeves, Cassie’s dad. There is some closure, especially with the epilogue and a happily-ever-after.

Heath is fast becoming one of my favorite go-to authors. I can’t wait to read books three and four in the series, which will be telling the stories of the Warriner brothers, Joe and Jacob. I’ve enjoyed the other books I’ve read by this author, not only in this series, and look forward to reading more.
