Our Review

Former-Army medevac pilot Alexander “Zander” Pierce owns and operates his own helicopter service in Harmony Falls, Pennsylvania. Jemba Studios hires him to prepare America’s Sweetheart for a stunt in her upcoming movie. Introvert by nature, the bubbly starlet turns Zander’s world topsy-turvy. He agrees to play Kate’s boyfriend after the paparazzi photographs them in a compromising position. Zander is a no-commitment-kind-of-guy, but he wonders if they can make a relationship work. Will Zander convince America’s Sweetheart to take a chance with an ordinary guy like him?

Kate Watson, affectionately known as America’s Sweetheart, is renowned for her humorous roles in romantic comedies. She decides to try her hand at something outside her usual genre. A dare from Kate’s legendary costar prompts her to perform her own stunt scene in their upcoming movie. Kate cannot help but feel attracted to her broody yet hunky pilot instructor. Circumstances force Zander to play her fictitious boyfriend. Can Zander help Kate overcome her phobia in time for her stunt scene? Will Kate and Zander figure out a way to make a relationship between them possible?

I admit to feeling a tad uncertain about Zander for a while, but eventually the man’s stoicism grew on me. He is a man who prefers to get his point across with few words without pandering to another’s whims. I love how Kate throws his orderly life into total chaos. She shakes his confidence until Zander has no idea how to assimilate the situation they landed in. But, what I adore the most about Zander is how he always assures Kate with the phrase “I got your six.”

Kate is such a sweet and wholesome girl-next-door type, quite different from the usual heroines I like. She is a famous actress, yet Kate doesn’t allow fame to corrupt her. I like how Kate always remembers and honors her humble roots. I find her bubbly demeanor infectious, a nice contrast to Zander’s somberness. There are some instances when Kate’s behavior annoyed me, mostly when she behaved childishly towards Zander. But what I admire the most about Kate is how she battled her height phobia to help sick children.

BELONG TO ME is book two in Gaelen Foley and Jaz Kennedy’s collaboration series, HARMONY FALLS. I notice the story has a slight different feel from Gaelen Foley’s historical and fantasy books. Unfortunately, I have not read the first book in the series, something I plan to remedy since I adore small town romances.

BELONG TO ME is a charming and whimsical romance of two opposites finding a way to make their whirlwind romance work. I love how the sister-duo joined forces to create such a sweet, feel good romance. I cannot wait to see Harmony Falls work its spellbinding magic on the next upcoming couple.
