I am so glad you could join us here at Romance Junkies. To start, will you please tell us a little bit about your current projects?
Thanks for having me! I’m pretty new at this business of being an author, though I’ve “been a writer” since early childhood. My debut novel was published last year and my second comes out in February. Specifically, I write contemporary new-adult adventure-sport romances (that’s a mouthful!). My debut, Lessons in Gravity, is set in Yosemite National Park and follows an aspiring documentary filmmaker and an enigmatic professional rock climber who climbs without a rope.
Who gave you the one piece of writing advice that sticks with you to this day?
I can’t recall who the person was (likely a speaker at a Romance Writers of America chapter meeting), but they warned against the tendency of some writers to save aside all their best ideas for future stories. Instead, the speaker advised us to trust that our creative wells will always be refilled and to put those good ideas to use now! Being an “idea hoarder” myself, this was really freeing, and I suppose that’s how I ended up having a stunt pilot subplot in a rock climbing novel.
What has been your biggest adventure to date?
For our honeymoon, my husband and I took a trip to the east coasts of Costa Rica and Panama. The adventure part was traveling through the remote jungle between the two countries with very limited Spanish and only a partially formed understanding of how it was done (a combo of bus, water taxi, an intimidating dance with our passports and entry permissions, and crossing a long, rusted-out bridge by foot, ). But it all worked out and we had an amazing time in a Panamanian island paradise that was definitely off the beaten path!
What are your favorite romance tropes?
I’m a sucker for slow-burn romances, any trope. This probably explains why I read so much YA. J
What is your favorite comfort food?
Grilled cheese sandwiches and peppermint ice cream.
What is your favorite season? What do you love about it?
I love the crispness in the air that comes with fall and the sense of everyone hunkering down and getting cozy for the snow and cold ahead. Ironically, I live in Southern California where it’s summer-like year-round. But even with our mellow climate, we get a taste of the seasonal differences, and, besides, the fall is the very best time to go to the beach here as the weather is still hot but the beaches aren’t crowded and there isn’t morning fog anymore.
What project are you working on next?
I recently wrapped up the proofreading process on my second romance novel. Like my debut novel, Lessons in Gravity, this book centers in the world of professional-level adventure sports except this book takes us abroad and to the next level of extreme. Also like Lessons in Gravity, this story is told all from the heroine’s point of view.
I’m currently working on a bonus book for readers that goes along with my next novel and I’ve been trying my hand at some short stories, just for fun.
Any place we can find you in person or on the net this month or next?
I’m penciled in to sign books in February at the Adventure 16 Ladies’ Nights in San Diego and Los Angeles. (Adventure 16 is an awesome, independent outdoor clothing and equipment company here in Southern California.) There will likely be some other things happening to coincide with the release of my next book, so be sure to check the events page on my website!

Lessons in Gravity
All eyes are on Josh Knox…
Fearless. Guarded. Cut-to-perfection. Daredevil rock climber. The best in the world.
This time he’s poised to scale Yosemite’s notoriously treacherous Sorcerer Spire, with Walkabout Media & Productions filming every move.
April Stephens’s dream to be a documentary filmmaker rests on her acing her internship with Walkabout, and that means getting the abrasive Josh to give her more than one-word answers in his interviews.
The problem is, with every step forward professionally, she and Josh are also taking a step forward personally, and after watching her stunt pilot father die in a fiery crash, a guy who risks his life for a living is the last person she should be falling for. Especially because in one month her internship will have them dangling three thousand feet in the air from the side of the Sorcerer. She’ll be filming. He’ll be climbing without a rope.
