TOTAL SURRENDER by Rebecca Zanetti
Romance Junkies Q&A
I am so glad you could join us here at RomanceJunkies. To start, will you please tell us a little bit about your current projects?
Thanks so much for having me over to celebrate the release of Total Surrender! It’s the final book in the Sin Brothers series, and it answers the question of who shot Jory and why.
When was the moment that you knew you had to be a writer?
I think I always wanted to be a writer, but to be honest, I’m one of those oddballs who wanted to be a lot of things. I enjoyed being an art curator, a lawyer, and a college professor. I think that I’ll always write, and at some point I’d like to go back to college and study physics and string theory just for fun.
Who gave you the one piece of writing advice that sticks with you to this day?
I think I read online that Mary Janice Davidson said, “Never, never, never ever give up.” That stuck with me, because it’s so true.
Describe the “perfect” hero. What about the “perfect” hero for you?
A perfect hero for me is somebody who is incredibly smart and mentally strong. In my books, I love a good wounded anti-hero who does what’s right by his standards and will do anything to protect his family or loved ones.
What are some of your favorite pastimes? Do you have any hobbies or collections?
I collect Belleek china as well as shoes. My closet is very shoe-heavy. As for pastimes, I have a big family and spend a lot of time at different games for football, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, and lacrosse. Between my kids and my nephews and nieces, we pretty much hit every sport and season.
If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose, and why?
I would choose a secluded and warm beach somewhere in the middle of the ocean to just relax and get some sun. Being a writer, I’m rather introverted, and since I live in the Pac NW, we have long winters and don’t see the sun. So a quiet beach in full sun would be lovely right now.
When it comes to food, are you the adventurous type who will try anything once, or do you prefer to stick to tried and true foods and recipes?
I think I’ll try anything once, so bring it on!
What is the one modern convenience that you cannot do without? What is this romance writer’s idea of the “ideal romantic evening”?
Okay, I bought a home latte machine, and it’s my favorite convenience ever. It’s simple, uses K cups, and can be cleaned in the dishwasher. I just love, love, love it.
What is your favorite comfort food?
Definitely macaroni and cheese.
What is your favorite season? What do you love about it?
I love the spring because I just really enjoy rain storms when the flowers just start to peek through the ground. It’s nice to write when it’s storming outside.
What is this romance writer’s idea of the “ideal romantic evening”?
At home with Big Tone and a fire going…with a nice storm raging outside. Throw in some mac and cheese and a good movie…and I’m in heaven.
