Exclusive Interview with Kelly Elliott
Exclusive Q&A with Kelly Elliott, author of NEVER ENOUGH.
In NEVER ENOUGH, longing to forget the pain of his wife’s death, Brock Shaw has immersed himself in the one thing that lets him escape the guilt. Bull riding. But life on the road means leaving his young son at home with his parents. They want him to give up his career and be a father to his child, but Brock needs the adrenaline to get through each day . . . or so he thinks.
Lincoln Pratt needs a fresh start. As a top interior designer in Atlanta, she has everything she could ever want, but she’s always at her father’s mercy. Something’s missing, and Lincoln knows she’ll only find it somewhere far away—like the rolling pastures of Hamilton, Montana, where she meets the irresistibly mysterious Brock.
Our reviewer loved the book! Here’s her 4 Heart review!
Exclusive Q&A: Author Kelly Elliott
1) Thanks for being here today! To start off, can you please tell us a little bit about your current project?
Never Enough is book one in the Meet Me in Montana series. I have had the idea for this book floating in my head for a few years. I went up to a PBR event in Tacoma, Washington and was able to get a behind the scenes tour of what happens during an event. I was so inspired I went back to my hotel and wrote for two days straight. When I got home the words kept flowing and two weeks later Never Enough was written.
2) Would you say this book showcases your writing style or is it a departure for you?
It for sure showcases my writing style.
3) How did you ‘get to know’ your main characters? Did they ever surprise you?
Brock had been in my head for a number of months before I started to write the book. Lincoln was a breath of fresh air when I started to write. Neither of them really surprised me in any way. They were both such strong, passionate characters in my mind and they stayed true to that as I wrote them.
4) What was the most difficult scene to write?
There wasn’t any particular scene that was hard to write. It was emotional at times when Brock struggled with this past. My heart ached for him.
5) What was your favorite scene to write?
Any scene with Blayze was a favorite and a certain hospital scene, but I don’t want to give anything away!
6) Can you list some things that inspired this book?
My husband was watching PBR one day on TV and I sat down and was so drawn in. I told him I was going to write a book about a professional bull rider. Then I went to Montana to visit another author friend of mine, Kristen Proby, and I fell so in love with Montana. I just knew I had to write a book based in Montana. It all sort of just fell into place from that point on.
7) What project are you working on next?
I’m currently writing Lucky in Love, which book four in the Southern Bride series. My next release, after Never Enough, is Divided Interests in February 2020, and then Always Enough in April 2020.
