The First Kiss

The First Kiss

What makes that first kiss so special?

It has been a long time since I shared a first kiss with a man. Not because I am celibate or anything like that, but because I have been with the same man for a long time. That first kiss is a distant memory for me, but if I close my eyes I can recall the first kiss I shared with my husband.

I smile, remembering how much I liked his long, thick locks. This was the 80s when guys had thick manes of hair. The setting was not that romantic unless one thinks a smoky, crowded club is romantic. But the location did not matter that much to me because all of that faded away when our lips touched. It was just the two of us locked in a passionate kiss. A tangle of sensations surged through my body–pleasant tingles…racing pulse…limbs trembling with desire.

I think what makes that first kiss so special is that mixture of pleasant tingles and feelings of the promise of more pleasure to come. It is that newness and sense of wonder to experience more with that person.

Do you remember the first kiss that made you tremble?

In my sweet, contemporary/paranormal short story, A Winter Solstice Kiss, my hero and heroine share a first kiss beneath mistletoe.

Blurb: When Brianna decides to attend the Winter Solstice masquerade ball, she never thought she would end up kissing a handsome knight beneath the mistletoe, but they part without exchanging names and phone numbers—how will they find each other again?

Excerpt: She couldn’t move her mouth at first, allowing his lips to capture her mouth in a thrilling crush. His forceful yet tender kiss awakened something inside her. She forgot who she was or that she was kissing a stranger. Her head spinning, she surrendered to the kiss.

His hand cradled the back of her head and she was aware of the slight scratch of stubble tickling her face. The kiss between them grew more passionate and she almost dropped her cup, the only thing keeping their bodies from touching.

The heat from his body still reached her, sending a flush to every part of her body. His sword sheath stabbing into her hip excited her, quickening her pulse. The rest of her body responded to his fiery kiss, her breasts tingling and heaving. She wanted to stay like that, to feel a man’s lips giving her so much pleasure again.

“Okay guys, get a room already.” A reveler laughed and ducked into the bathroom.

She stepped away from him, the magical moment broken. Blushing, she avoided eye contact with him.

A Winter Solstice Kiss will appear in the Christmas/holiday anthology from Noble Romance Publishing. The release date is 12/21/09. For more information visit http://www.nobleromance.com or http://www.kelleyheckart.com

Like Lisa, I have to really think back in time..my hubby and I just celebrated 46 years this year. Now on to more serious chat. The book sounds so good and of course it’s another one added to my list. I am hoping for gift cards for Christmas for any book store or wal mart so I can go crazy shopping for books off my to get list. We are having a cold icy winter right now and I look forward to doing a lot more reading this winter. susan L
