Our Review

ALONG CAME A LADY, book one of Christi Caldwell’s All the Duke’s Sins series, is off to a sensational start. It is a captivating story of redemption and love.

The Duke of Bentley was unaware of his illegitimate offspring until one of his sons seeks him out to purchase a commission. The Duke and Duchess of Bentley send representatives to bring the heir, Rafe Audley, to London. They are sent packing.

Rafe Audley has spent his life in the coal mining town where he is superintendent of the mine. He has cared for his brothers and sister since his mother died when he was 12, and has no desire to meet the Duke, whom he feels has abandoned them for thirty years.

Edwina Dalrymple, the latest representative of the Duke, prepares young ladies for their entry into society. The Duke hires her as a last resort to instruct Rafe on how to handle his self with the peerage and convince him to at least come to London and meet the Duke. Edwina has agreed to do this in the hopes of opening doors in polite society, as she is trying to make a name for herself as a governess and a companion.

Two strong determined people who have struggled in life are thrown together, with some hilarious banter and interactions between them, make for an exceptional book. The love-hate relationship of the couple grew under the sharp witty dialogue. The sensuality builds gradually to a sizzling climax.

ALONG CAME A LADY is an excellent book and I could hardly put it down. I can’t wait for the Duke’s other off springs stories.
