Our Review

Verity Long is a ghost consultant. When her secret ability leaks out to the public, she decides to venture into the ghost hunting business. Verity finally lands her first job: to investigate Sugarland’s historic mansion Rock Fall and its spectral inhabitants. However, her ghostly sidekick, Frankie the gangster, balks at helping Verity with the investigation. The mansion’s ghosts refuse to cooperate and ignore Verity’s attempts at communication. She starts to fear for her life when Rock Fall claims its latest victim. Can Verity manage to solve the dark mystery surrounding the mansion?

Verity is such a fun and enjoyable heroine. I admire her ability to make the best out of any situation, good or bad, thrown her way.  She, once again, weathers Sugarland’s ridicule when the truth of her abilities comes out, yet their scorn does not stop her from continuing with the new job venture. I like how Verity is slowly finding her way into the ghost hunting venture, learning fast from her past mistakes and accomplishments. I love how Verity knows when to rely on others, and how she is not afraid to ask her friends for help whenever the need arises.

Frankie the gangster continues to amaze me. He too shows such growth since the first book, that he has another side of his personality than the easygoing, troublemaking gangster. He may be a thorn to Verity on occasion but he does help her out in his own unique way. I like how when Verity’s confidence wavers, Frankie does not allow her to give up and renews her determination to solve the case.

DEADER HOME AND GARDENS is book four in Angie Fox’s fun paranormal series, SOUTHERN GHOST HUNTER MYSTERIES. My only nitpick is that I wanted more Ellis. I am super happy that Verity and Ellis are no longer hiding their relationship and taking things slow. I love how he comes to Verity’s aid whenever she is in a pinch.

DEADER HOME AND GARDENS is a fun paranormal romance mixed with a mystery. I always enjoy this series from Angie Fox. The characters and their hijinks guarantee an entertaining read. I hope the author gives Ellis a larger role in upcoming books.
