Our Review

LAST SEEN ALONE is the latest book from Laura Griffin’s Texas Murder Files series and is as exciting as the previous books and can be read as a standalone.

Leigh Larson is a gutsy attorney who is an expert taking on cases of victims of sexual extortion, harassment, and online abuse. She goes toe-to-toe against some of the ugliest predators and will always go the extra mile to help a client. When she receives an unexpected visit from homicide detective Brandon Reynolds asking about a potential client she met with only once and barely knew, she is surprised and focuses her attention on trying to figure out what is going on.

Detective Reynolds was called to a scene where an abandoned car has been found. He cannot find the owner of the car, Vanessa Adams, on the scene and finds some blood inside the vehicle, which causes him concern. A perimeter search around the vehicle shows more blood, and he knows he knows some kind of crime has occurred. What it is, he does not know. Could this be a potential homicide? Inside the car, he finds the identification of the owner along with a business card for attorney Leigh Larson, who becomes the first person he wants to interview.

Leigh and Brandon butt heads. Vanessa was in the process of hiring her when she disappeared. However, she does not have much information about what Vanessa needed and Brandon is pushing for information she does not have. As the search continues, Leigh becomes involved with trying to solve the puzzle of Vanessa’s disappearance. She begins working with Brandon, hoping they can find out what happened and that Vanessa is okay.

Now the true adventure begins. There are twists and turns, and it is fun watching Leigh and Brandon work through ethical and personal differences as they believe they are hunting a killer. Laura Griffin is an author I always read and have never been disappointed with any of her books. I started reading this book and couldn’t put it down until I had finished it. Thank heaven for pizza delivery. LAST SEEN ALONE is an exceptional read!
