Our Review

MALICIOUS INTENT by Lynn H. Blackburn is book 2 of the Defend and Protect series.

Dr. Ivy Collins, founder and CEO of Hedera, Inc., is ready to begin clinical trials of her company’s cutting-edge prosthetic, but someone is trying to sabotage her company and her life’s work They’ve gone so far as to torture her for the passwords to her computer.

U.S. Secret Service Agent Gil Dixon is reunited with Ivy, his childhood best friend and lost love. After her business deposits counterfiet bills, Gil goes to her home talk to her and finds men holding her captive and torturing her. It will take all his skill to uncover the truth and protect Ivy, but he’s determined to do so and make Ivy his forever.

I enjoyed this book. It has a sweet romance that I enjoyed, and I would have given it a 4.5, but I felt the pacing was slow. There was too much angst between the action which I felt slowed the pacing. I also was very annoyed when Ivy got into a fight with Gil because he didn’t consult her while protecting her life. I get trying to have a strong heroine, but she’d been tortured, and almost kidnapped, and now she’s angry because someone is trying to keep her alive. That just didn’t work for me.

Even with these issues, I enjoyed the book and recommend it.
