Our Review

SILENT SHADOWS by Natalie Walters is the third in the Harbored Secrets series. It is a standalone book. I hadn’t read the first two books and found I could follow the story fine.

Nurse Pecca Gallegos relocates to Walton, Georgia, to work at Home for Heroes. She has left her dangerous past behind her to start over and give her seven-year-old son, Maceo, a safe and secure home. Now it seems her past is catching up to her as there is an attempt on her life.

At Home for Heroes, she meets Colton Crawford, a former special ops officer, trying to recover from a debilitating, uncontrolled movement disorder. Pecca is assigned as Colton’s nurse/physical therapist. Their attraction is a slow burn. (After their relationship heats up, I’d rate the spice level medium to high.)

Colton and Maceo, Pecca’s son, form a bond and help each other learn to not let their disabilities hold them back.

As strange and dangerous things continue to happen to Pecca, she confides in Colton. He feels an attachment to her and is determined to protect her and Maceo but fears he will fail due to his disability.

I especially love the endearing relationships that grow between Colton, Pecca, and Maceo. And the secondary characters are well fleshed-out, especially the other vets at Home for Heroes.

There are all kinds of twists and turns to keep the suspense up through the whole story. I really enjoyed this book. SILENT SHADOWS provides the excitement all suspense lovers are sure to enjoy. A real page-turner!
