Our Review

SUMMER AT FIREFLY BEACH is a feel-good romance, a beach read with lots of family, friends, and memories. The story takes place at Uncle Hank’s cottage at Firefly Beach, where Uncle Hank is still suffering tremendous grief over the death of his beloved wife, Clara.

Hallie, along with some family and friends, decides to spend a few weeks with Uncle Hank and assess the situation. Before dying, Hank’s wife wrote letters to Hank, Hallie, and a few others. The others received letters with their inheritances, except for Hallie, who has to first fulfill the bucket list she created when she was twelve. Although she doesn’t understand why she has to do so and what purpose it will serve, when she sets her mind to completing the list, it changes her outlook and her life. Every step of the way she feels her aunt’s presence guiding her.

The characters are wonderful and fully fleshed out. The author does a terrific job of showing Clara and Hank’s love, as well as hinting at secrets keeping Hank from any sense of peace. There are many plot lines going on that culminate nicely. The relationships between best friends add to the warm romance building between Hallie and Ben.

The inclusion of Clara’s design business, Hallie’s love of photography, and Gavin, a newcomer to Firefly Beach who owns a gallery, gives the book an artist’s feel. I could visualize the photos, the paintings, and even the design elements that are mentioned.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series, THE HOUSE ON FIREFLY BEACH, continuing where this story leaves off. SUMMER AT FIREFLY BEACH is a feel good romance that’s perfect for any season.
