Our Review

My emotions were engaged from the first page to the last.  So much so that I read the book in one sitting in about six hours!  There was laughter and tears along with sighs and a feel good feeling along with heartache.  THE CHRISTMAS PROMISE is the first book in the series I picked up but it won’t be the last.  This is a what a romance should be with family, friends and love at its core!

Jennifer and Simeon meet in Anguilla, an island in the Caribbean.  She’s coming off a bad break up since her boyfriend cheated on her and she caught him.  This was supposed to be the vacation they took together and Jennifer decided to cancel his ticket and go on her own.  Simeon is an executive who travels the world for his work and needed to recharge his batteries.  When they meet there is immediate chemistry but both are taking it slow especially since Simeon doesn’t want to scare her off.

Fast forward three years with minimal contact initially and then silence.  Jennifer has a surprise for him but hasn’t heard from him even though she left voice mails and even emailed him.  When their paths unexpectedly cross they’re both in for a surprise but can they pick up where they left off after only five short days together?

Family is at the core of this heartwarming story.  I felt the love through the words and feelings that were evoked.  There were quite a few twists to the story but in the end a happily ever after better than I dreamed.  There was nice closure and I for one can’t wait for the next book in the series, BE MY VALENTINE, which is up next for me!

McClendon is a new to me author but I will definitely be back for more.  Her books are reminiscent to me of those by Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis and Francis Ray.
