Our Review

THE PLUS ONE is an amusing, romantic, modern-day tale that stars Polly Spencer who is fast approaching thirty-years old with no boyfriend in sight. She feels that life is passing her by since single is her middle name, with real fears of becoming an elderly lady with cats for company. Now, her best friend, Lex, is engaged and Polly is the maid of honor. Panic time! Polly doesn’t have a significant other to take to the wedding.

Polly works at Posh! Magazine and is obligated to write up fascinating articles on ho-hum subject matter. Her latest venture has her interviewing a famous cad named Jasper Milton, the famous Marquess of Milton. Jasper is extremely handsome, charming, and commitment phobic. Polly doesn’t trust Jasper because of his randy reputation. She meets his eccentric parents and sister during her stay at their castle. Interestingly enough, Jasper pursues Polly and they date, sort of, but romance factors in big time. Polly swears she won’t fall in love but, oops, she does.

Her zany, lovable friends, Lex, Joe, childhood friend Bill, Lala, Legs, and her mother all warn her about dating daffy Jasper. Polly is stressed because her mom is going through some serious health stuff. They all just want her to be happy. Only, Polly is relishing the romance with a famous man. Will their fling last? Is there a proposal in sight? Is Jasper her plus one at the wedding?

THE PLUS ONE is a fantastic, flirty story with a colorful, comical look at the singles dating scene. It is full of mad quips and jabs, quirky characters with seriously introspective issues. There are many emotional highs and lows with giggles galore! The novel is exquisitely British, which puts a spiffy spin on mundane things. I never laughed so hard or so much, because the author writes seriously funny stuff! Not everyone can make hooking-up with guys so laugh-out loud funny, especially in the bedroom department, which caused me to blush. I absolutely adored Ms. Money-Coutts’ blatantly truthful tell-all novel about romance and affairs. THE PLUS ONE is a real hoot!
