Our Review

Turkey legs and pirates, oh my! Jen Deluca’s debut novel, WELL MET, is a real page-turner with heart! It stars a gorgeous girl, Emily, who moves in with her sister as a helper while she recuperates from an accident. Emily acts as a chauffeur, driving her sister to doctor appointments and her niece to school events and the Renaissance faire during the summer. However, Emily is talked into working as a wench at the faire along with her niece, Caitlin. Heaven help her! The guy in charge of the event, Simon, is a prickly person and a major thorn in Emily’s side. Or is it the other way around?

Simon is irritated with the newcomer, Emily who teases him about faire rules. He is upset that she floats in all carefree, although quite lovely, and asks him to change up things. He is quite taken with her looks when its time to dress in costume at the faire. Emily the wench is quite beautiful and Simon the pirate is dashingly debonair. Emily and Simon might rub each other the wrong way in person but when they are in costume, it’s no holds barred, a free for all in the flirting department. Is Emily gaga for the brawny pirate? Will Simon reveal his true feelings to Emily? Or will they miss the smitten signals sparkling between them completely?

WELL MET is a beautiful blend of colorful characters, a pleasing plot and an irresistible romance involving a Renaissance faire that takes place in the woods and a mixed-signals couple. Emily, is a temporary caregiver to her laid-up sister and Simon is a handsome schoolteacher who is in charge of a Renaissance faire. When they meet at faire sign-up, tension crackles between them. But, Emily volunteers and once they are in costume, heat flares between them and Simon courts Emily, causing her heart to melt for the bad boy.

Are there real emotions involved in all the easy, breezy bantering? Emily is swept off her feet by the tall, dark and handsome pirate. Is Simon equally crazy for the sassy dame, Emily? Ms. Deluca hones in on issues that many readers can identify with such as caregivers and getting along with difficult people. The author delivers underlying warmth, humor and heartfelt circumstances that will tug at your heartstrings. This is one of the best enemies to lovers romance stories I have read this year! WELL MET sparkles like bubbly champagne!
