Our Review

WINDOW ON THE BAY by Debbie Macomber begins with two best friends graduating college and getting ready for a trip to Paris that they had been planning for a long time. As things would happen they don’t get to go as one friend is pregnant and getting married, so they set their plans aside and work on planning a wedding. As the story continues the two women are married and divorced and have grown children who are moving on with their lives. The empty-nesters begin, once again, to plan to go to Paris. Fate, once again, steps in and the two women who have no desire for a romantic relationship find themselves meeting men who become involved in their lives. Now the meat of the story begins as relationships develop, fall apart and develop once again. The women are set in their ways and the men they meet are not what they would have chosen for themselves. What an adventure of romantic development as misconceptions and not communicating make life miserable. There are so many ups and downs that I could have used a scorecard as to who was winning in the friendship and romance activity. Of course, the adult children also get to put in their ‘two cents’. The author gives a lot of insight into the feelings of both the men and the women. The story concludes leaving the reader happy and satisfied.
