Holiday Drinks with Erin McLellan--Author of Stocking Stuffers

Stocking Stuffers by Erin McLellan

I was completely charmed by this sexy Christmas story—STOCKING STUFFERS is the perfect mix of naughty and nice with a wicked wit and a swoony happy ever after to get you into the holiday spirit! –Vanessa North, author of Blueberry Boys and Roller Girl

Sasha Holiday is so over the holidays after getting left at the altar last Christmas Eve. But as the marketing maven for Lady Robin’s Intimate Implements, she’s stuck not-so-merrily pitching naughty toys at a romance book club’s Christmas party. Her loathing of the yuletide only intensifies as a snowstorm rolls in and traps her at the Winterberry Inn. Stranded with her is Perry Winters—a hot bearded book club member trimmed in flannel and tattoos.

Perry’s a romantic with an unerring belief in the magic of the season, and he recognizes a Christmas miracle when he sees it. Brave, smart, and confident—Sasha Holiday is a gift. And the gifts keep coming when she suggests they pass the time with some no-strings fun. After all, she has a big bag of toys that would make even Santa want to stay in bed on Christmas Eve…

Holiday Drinks to Serve at Your Boozy Book Club

In my recent holiday release, Stocking Stuffers, the heroine and hero get stranded at a Christmas-themed inn with a raunchy romance book club. Baked goods and booze flows freely with this book club as members meddle in the budding romance.

Here are recipes for my favorite holiday drinks that would be great for your own romance book club. My fictional book club would love these, and so will you!

Blood Orange Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is perfect for chilly winter nights and adding blood orange gives it a nice, citrusy kick. In Stocking Stuffers, the book club gets a little loopy on mulled wine. I like using a slow cooker for this recipe because you can keep it warm for hours, but make sure to remove the spices if you plan to let it sit. They will make it bitter.

Needed Ingredients:

  • Red wine (your choice)
  • Brandy
  • Maple syrup
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Blood oranges
  • Cherries
  • Whole cloves
  • Star Anise

Scotch Coffee

If your book club is reading stories set across the Pond, this scotch coffee is a perfect, cozy cocktail. I especially love this drink for brunch, and I prefer smoky, peaty scotch, like Talisker, Oban, or Kilchoman.

Needed Ingredients:

  • Single-malt scotch
  • Brown sugar
  • Coffee
  • Whipped cream
  • Nutmeg
  • Optional: vanilla creamer for sweetness

Mudslide Pudding Shots

Need a little dessert to go with your party? These pudding shots are a play on jello shots and the classic ice cream mudslide, using pudding instead of jello or ice cream. I prefer Kalhua over Baileys, but either would work. These are perfect little winter treats. Get creative with your toppings, from marshmallows to crumbled candy canes to mint leaves.

Needed Ingredients:

  • Instant chocolate pudding
  • Hot cocoa mix
  • Milk
  • Baileys Irish Cream or Kalhua
  • Vanilla extract
  • Whipped Cream
  • Toppings: marshmallows, cocoa powder, mint leaves, chocolate shavings, candy canes, etc.

Hot Tea Toddy

There’s nothing better on a cold winter night than a hot toddy, and a hot tea toddy is perfectly pair with cozy stories. I really like to swap the hot water with types of tea for a bit of a different flavor profile. This gives you infinite possibilities. You could choose black tea, oolong tea, ginger tea, chamomile tea, spice tea etc. My favorite is a local spicy Alaskan favorite—Samovar Tea from The Kobuk. Then you can choose your favorite brown liquor of choice. The traditional choice is whiskey, but rum or brandy would work as well.

Needed Ingredients:

  • Water
  • Tea (your choice)
  • Honey
  • Whiskey (or other brown liquor)
  • Lemon
  • Optional: cloves, cinnamon, star anise

I hope you’ve enjoyed these recipes.

Check out my new release, Stocking Stuffers, for more booze and baked goods. It’s a R-rated, snowed-in, Christmas story where the heroine sells sex toys, the hero reads romance novels, and most of the side characters are lesbians.

But the frisky festivities turn complicated as feelings spark between Sasha and Perry. Perry wants to see Sasha once the snow clears, but Sasha is reluctant to take the relationship sleigh ride again. Perry will have to show her that love is more than just a holiday feeling.
