These Aren’t your Grandma’s Type of Werewolves

In M. Jayne’s SEE ME, to the Novus pack, the word of their leader, their Laird, is the law. With compelling gray eyes and long dark hair, Raider Black rules his pack with intelligence and ruthlessness. To cement the security of his pack, Black has committed to mate another Packleader’s daughter. But he’s finding it impossible to fight his attraction to the pack’s alluring new Seer, claiming her as his own.

Hello Romance Junkies. Thank you so much for inviting me to talk about the first book in my new Paranormal Romance Series, See Me.

Who is M. Jayne/Melanie Jayne?

We are the same ice cream lovin’, pajama wearin’ person who likes her music loud and her dogs-slobbery.  As M. Jayne, I write paranormal romance and have just released See Me, Book 1 in the Novus Pack Series. When I’m in that world, I listen to angry rock and angsty love songs. I would claim that I wear more black but I usually wear black because it is supposed to be slimming—not that my dogs notice.

Melanie Jayne writes contemporary romance featuring characters over the age of thirty-five and currently has three series available. She is quick to laugh and chat.

No matter which pen name I’m using, my books are very woman-positive. The men may be action oriented but it is the women who guide the story.

Why Werewolves?

I used to rush home from school to catch the end of Dark Shadows. I loved Quentin Collins the man who changed into a wolf. Today when I see a full moon, I wonder if it does make people change. A few years ago I had a dream about a human woman who is dumped on a deserted strip of land to die but she is found by a team who happen to be shifters-wolves. The opening changed over time but that theme stuck.

In the world that I created for Novus, I modified a few of the usual shifter rules. The moon does not affect their ability to change, packs are made up of all different kinds of temperaments but even the most low-key are violent killers. Over time, their goddess, The Lady, adjusted their mating rituals. Due to wars and their violent nature, the population was thinning so in order to procreate they now have different ways of mating.

Three Things You Need to Know about the Novus Pack

  1. They are the newest pack. Raider Black was given the charter for saving the son of a powerful Lycan Council member. He was imprisoned for years and honored for his sacrifice. The leader is known as being progressive and Novus keeps up with the times. When you can live forever, time moves differently.
  2. Novus exists in the human world. They have a very lucrative business and interact with humans. Other packs keep to themselves and live in out of the way places. They are based in Wolfsbane, Nebraska, not exactly a busy place but they aren’t in the upper wilds of Canada in a castle.
  3. Raider Black will sacrifice anything to keep his Pack secure and make it stronger. He believes that money buys security so he has found several lucrative ways to make plenty. He agreed to a contracted mating with the daughter of another Packleader to secure routes through their lands. When a human is found that carries The Lady’s mark, he makes it so that she cannot leave. Theodora Morrissey is both his gift and his weapon and eventually his lover.

Throughout history, The Lady, Goddess of the Lycan world, has gifted werewolf packs with humans who carry her mark. Theodora Morrissey’s plans to return to college for her graduate degree are ended when she is awakened by an otherworldly voice on a rarely used airstrip in Nebraska. Injured and disoriented, she has no idea the discoloration on her back has marked her as a Seer, and that she is now a possession—and the prisoner—of the Novus Pack of Lycans.

To the Novus pack, the word of their leader, their Laird, is the law. With compelling gray eyes and long dark hair, Raider Black rules his pack with intelligence and ruthlessness. To cement the security of his pack, Raider has committed to mate another Packleader’s daughter. But he’s finding it impossible to fight his attraction to the pack’s alluring new Seer, claiming her as his own.

Sweet, fearless, and unintentionally funny, Theo upends Raider’s world and pushes the boundaries of his rules. How far is Raider willing to go, and what will he sacrifice, to save both his pack and the human Seer who’s found a way not only into his bed, but his heart?
