Do You Remember Your First Love?

Hi All,

My name’s LaVerne Thompson and I’m a newly published author, my first published work PROMISES from Red Rose Publishing is a contemporary romance about young love lost then found. http://redrosepublishing.com/bookstore/product_info.php?products_id=230 available in ebook form.

How many of us have had childhood friends whom we were close too or left lasting impressions on us, but then moved away and we never heard from them again. From time to time don’t you ever wonder about whatever happened to them. This is the story of bestfriends rediscovering each other as adults. Here’s the blurb and an excerpt.

PROMISES

by LaVerne Thompson

Blurb-

Can the promise of young love withstand the test of time?

Childhood friends, David and Mia know there is something special, something different about their friendship.  But then David moves away and whatever that something is they never have the chance to explore.

Mia waits twelve years for David to come back to her, knowing deep in her heart that one day he would.  She’d made him a promise the day he left, she would wait for him, and she kept it. Unbeknownst to her, he has also.  He never forgets her.  Not where it counts, in his heart.  Now he has to prove it to her.

Excerpt-

He had taken several steps before he saw her talking with her parents but she hadn’t seen him. Her back was to him, yet he would have known her anywhere, anytime.

From the rear she was perfectly proportioned. Above average height, she would only come up to his shoulders in her high heels. He noticed she still wore her hair in that corkscrew style but it was longer now, hanging well past her shoulders.

When they were kids he loved nothing better than pulling one of her dark curls and watching it spring back towards her head. He wanted to pull one now. His gaze left her hair and followed the back of her dress, admiring the open display all the way down to the top of the curve of her beautifully rounded butt. Her dress ended just below her thighs, giving him a view of long sleek toned legs. She always did have nice legs. Yeah, he wanted to do a lot more than touch her hair.

She must have sensed him staring at her because suddenly she turned around and stared back at him. Even across the crowded room, he could feel her drawing him toward her; pulling him in until only the two of them existed in the universe. Just the way it had always been between them. There was no reason for fear.

Nothing had changed. He knew the truth now.  He loved her still.

Except everything had changed. He was now free to show her.

I hope you enjoyed my excerpt. I also write fantasy and sci/fi.  If you’d like to learn more about my work please visit my blog at isisindcblog.blogspot.com or check out myspace.com/lavernethompson

    Gigi congratulations!

My husband wasn’t the boy next door but he is my one and only. We will celebrate our 19th anniversary next spring, but we’ve been together for 24 years.

And sometimes your last love is actually your first.

    I really enjoyed the ecxcerpt.
I really don’t remember my first love.
Maybe I don’t want to remember.
But I do remember having a crush on Donny Osmond and David Cassidy way back in 5th or 6th grade.

But I did wind up marrying the boy next door.
Come January ’09 it will be 25 years together.

    Hi Pamela,

I’m glad. It’s an easy sensual read that I promise will leave readers smiling. Well it should. LOL

My next work while sensual has a touch of danger and suspense added to it. I’m sending that to my editor over at Red Rose in a day or two. It’s called HOLD ON and the first couple of unedited chapters are up on my blog if you want a look see. isisindcblog.blogspot.com

    Thank you Karin.

    Congrats to you Destiny.

I love stories like this too, and I’m glad my first published story is about lost loves. I think it can speak to everyone. Especially if they’ve been found.

Catslady-I did have some say. I asked that it only be a ripped male torso shown. No face. This is what the cover artist Kato Rain came up with. I’d say she did a fantastic job interpreting my hero David.

I loved the excerpt. The book sounds fantastic.

I just recently saw an elementary school of mine for the first time since sixth grade. She had moved away and I never saw her again. Unbeknownst to me, I’ve been working with her stepmother for about the last two years. So, on Halloween, she stopped by with her new baby so she could take him trick-or-treating with her stepmom. She was the one who recognized my name, as it’s on a name-plate, and thought I looked familiar.

    Hi Mimi,

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed what you’ve read. Sorry the excerpt is so short. The entire story is only a little over 7,000 words. A quick easy and enjoyable read. I think I still have chapter 1 up on my blog at isisindcblog.blogspot.com if you want to read more of it.

Loved the excerpt. It was just entirely too short.

    Thanks Dyanne and Stephanie.

I’ve actually finished another contemporary romance that I will be sending off to an editor today or tomorrow, HOLD ON, which hopefully will be published early next year. It’s about a modern day damsel in distress being saved by a knight in shining armor except his armor was a suit, and he saved her body and soul.

I’m also working on the second book in a fantasy series as well as an anthology, and a sci/fi romance. I’ve also finished work on another anthology and am working on a short that should be finished by the end of the year. So I’m pretty busy the next few months.
