Q & A

Q & A

Hello Raine. We’re so glad you could join us here at Romance Junkies. To start, will you please tell us a little bit about your current project?

Filthy Rich is the first book in my new series BLACKSTONE DYNASTY. The story is set in Boston and an island off the coast (fictional) that I named Blackstone Island. Filthy Rich is about Caleb Blackstone, the newly crowned head of his family’s billion-dollar corporation following the recent death of his father. Caleb is at a crossroads in his life when he meets a British girl who utterly captivates him.

Brooke Casterley is trying to put her tragic past behind her when she meets Caleb. The last thing on her agenda is getting involved with a man, even if he is a charming, sexy billionaire. But of course, that all goes out the window pretty quickly once these two get together. LOL

The books in this new BLACKSTONE DYNASTY series will be standalones, each about a different sibling of Caleb Blackstone.

When was the moment that you knew you had to be a writer?

It was 2008 and I was home on a medical leave from my teaching job. My husband and children were gone all day at work and school and I had nothing to do but rest. I started writing to entertain myself and quickly grew obsessed with the process. I couldn’t stop. I wrote for fun, replacing the enjoyment I used to feel when I read a book, except now I was writing one. I’d go to sleep thinking about my characters, and wake up thinking about them. The writing bug bit me, and the “infection” was swift and overwhelming from that point on.

Who gave you the one piece of writing advice that sticks with you to this day?

My mother. “Write what you love to write. Write every day. Nothing else matters.” It is simple advice, but it is what sticks to me and I remind myself of her words because she isn’t here anymore to say them to me herself.  <3

Describe the “perfect” hero. What about the “perfect” hero for you?

My perfect hero is the “honorable protector” who is looking to cherish and keep his girl safe. I always seem to make them come out that way once the books are done. I can’t help it. I think I should just write a series of bodyguard romances and be done with it. Ha ha.

What are some of your favorite pastimes? Do you have any hobbies or collections?

I enjoy puttering in the garden and DIY home projects that involve woodworking and furniture modifications. Saws and drills? I love it all!

I have so many collections it is time to stop “collecting” according to Mr. Miller. Most of my vintage items come from eBay which I am addicted to worse than Facebook. I have a complete collection of the original Nancy Drew Mysteries that I treasure. I also collect the 6-inch Dawn dolls from the seventies. They are like tiny Barbie dolls but with better clothes. I have about 30 different dolls and wardrobes full of outfits with shoes, boots and accessories.

What has been your biggest adventure to date

Having my book debut at #2 on the New York Times bestseller list behind Dan Brown’s Inferno. That week the difference between the number 1 spot and the number 2 spot was my 36K preorders vs. Dan Brown’s 2 million. I can’t help but imagine what could have been if his book had released just one week later. 😀

How do you describe yourself? How would you family and friends describe you?

From my Twitter: New York Times Bestselling Author. Mom. Wife. Lover of any story well told.

My writer friends call me “Mama Raine” because of my propensity to give authorly advice and support, and also because I am a good generation (or two) older than most of them. LOL

What project are you working on next?

I am finishing up book 2 in the BLACKSTONE DYNASTY series called Filthy Lies about Caleb’s sister, Winter Blackstone, and his life-long friend, James Blakney. After that I aim to focus on finishing up my indie ROTHVALE LEGACY series which my readers have been waiting patiently for.

Filthy Rich by Raine Miller

Title: Filthy Rich

Author: Raine Miller

Release Date: November 15, 2016

Publisher: Montlake Romance

Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.

Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.

Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.

rainemillerNew York Times bestselling author Raine Miller finds as much happiness in writing romances as she does in reading them. Ever since she picked up her first romance novel at thirteen years of age, she’s been hooked. Filthy Rich—the first book in her all-new series, Blackstone Dynasty—is Raine’s latest contemporary romance.

Raine lives with her handsome husband, brilliant sons, and two very bouncy (but beloved) Italian greyhounds.
